Ladew Gardens, Garden Glow

Maybe it feels too early to be thinking about October, but I’ll confess—this humidity sure has me longing for fall. I can admit to a standing preference for that time of year. The heat and I don’t mix so well, and sometimes I really feel ready for a comfortable sweater, a mug of tea, and a chance to take a walk and enjoy the turning colors of the leaves. Is that so much to ask?

I think not! And September is nearly upon us as we speak. In today’s blog post, I thought I’d keep it light, and share with you one of my favorite fall activities—one you’re not going to want to miss! It’s time to grab your tickets for Garden Glow at Ladew Gardens.

Ladew Gardens, featuring a historic manor house and 22 acres of award-winning gardens with over 100 intricate topiaries, is located in in the Maryland countryside just north of Baltimore City. The Ladew estate, developed and curated by Harvey S. Ladew (1887–1976), has been open to the public since 1971, and showcases a deep love of nature, horticulture, and topiaries. Ladew Gardens is famous for these topiaries, which I highly recommend you see for yourself! It’s incredible the kind of artistry that can emerge from detailed shaping and sculpting—there’s a sort of magic to this place, a real fantastical heart that reminds me of the settings described in old children’s books, like a place fairies might live.

Garden Glow is Ladew Gardens’ annual topiary and light exhibit, celebrating the luminous magic of fall. Running from October 14th to October 17th this year, the event features incredible illuminated sculptures, indescribable artistic creations, and joyful family fun. There’s something truly spectacular about taking an evening stroll through the golden light of hundreds and hundreds of jack-o’-lanterns all around the grounds. And Garden Glow features live music and local food vendors—not only will your artistic senses be enriched, but I can bet you’ll find a pretty delicious treat to accompany your walking!

Tickets for the event go on sale for non-members on September 8th at 9 AM. This is usually an event that sells out pretty quickly, so if you’re interested, mark your calendars!

And with fall blessedly around the corner, it’s also the perfect time to think about bringing a little fresh magic to your home design. If we start now, your home will be shining its brightest just in time for the holiday season! Looking for a new dining table to carve your pumpkins on, or a comfier sofa for a good Halloween movie night? I’m here to help, and I’d love to get started. Drop me a line, anytime! Let’s talk.

I have that ticket sale date on my calendar—maybe I’ll see you there!
