Getting ahead of the curve

September is here. Didn’t fall come around fast? But really, that’s how it always is—the summer days may be long, but time is always racing ahead. The best thing we can do is try to hold on to the slow moments, take our breaths, and savor the season while we’re in it. And you know what, I think I’m ready for fall. On the horizon, baked goods and sweaters and cups of warm tea abound. Soon enough the leaves will take on their finer colors, and we’ll remember everything we love about fall—all that it offers us, rest and home, comfort and quiet. After the hectic joy that summer can bring, those fall tidings are much needed.

In these forthcoming months we’re going to be spending more time in our homes, as is natural when the weather starts to turn (though don’t forget to take a stroll and savor that crisp air!). Change is always an opportunity, and I think it’s important to take opportunity in hand for all they’re worth. Now is the time to embrace a turning season and ask ourselves if we’re living how we want to be living. And part of that question is the question of our home. Is this space working for us? Is it all that it could possibly be? Does it reflect who we are the way we want, and need, it to? Our home has a lot of responsibilities around the holiday season—the rush of relatives, hosting, dinners, parties—and we want to be sure our home is equipped to fulfill our functional and formal needs.

And because the time is always so terribly fast—I really can’t believe it’s September!—it’s always the best practice to order ahead and get a jump on those designs. Today, a briefer dispatch—an opportunity, really. I want to remind you that now is the time to get rolling on our home design, to ensure any new furniture and drapery orders are in well in advance of the busy months.

There’s no better thing than being prepared. Getting ahead of that curve means that when the busy season does come around, you’ll be able to sit back, relax (as much as you’re able!), and let your home support you exactly how you need. The best way to make sure your home is ready for the marathon that starts around Halloween and ends after New Year’s is to order as early as you can. I always recommend my clients get started on their new designs and selections  around now, so, in the event of any unexpected factory or shipping delays, you still have plenty of room to get your pieces before you’ll be putting them to use.

Of course, it’s never too early to get started! That ounce of preparation is worth a pound of cure—there’s one recipe that never fails—and the sooner you get your orders in, the more time you’ll have to watch it all come together, stress-free. You should be able to relax into your home, its comfortable contours, and draw from it the sincere satisfaction of a space that reflects you, authentically and fully. There’s never a better time to change than now.

Woodside Home is here and ready to make that happen. I’d love to get started, today! Drop me a line, and let’s talk.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Here’s to fall, in all its glory! I can feel that turning in the air already, and it feels good.
